On a 1985 115Hp. Johnson carb rebuild, manual says to reseal core plugs over low speed orifice holes with a bead of 1000 sealer. What is this or what should I use?
Thanks. Rainman

Re: Carb. Rebuild Question

It is likely not necessary to seal the core plug assuming you do a good job in replacing it. The plug is pressure fit. To replace it, you put the convex side up and get a wooden dowel or socket from your socket set that is smaller than the plug. Then place the dowel or socket on the plug and tap it with a hammer. If you want, you can then seal it. I have used clear nail polish.

Is there a reason to use clear? i.e. is there a reason not to use a coloured nail polish?
I borrow whatever my daughter has and she doesn't use clear.

Lat one I did was actually purple...it showed really well, probably easier to see that you have a complete ring than with clear.
In Ottawa.
