The old plastic end on my gear shift cable finally broke on my 1960 Lark 2. I looked on ebay and online to try and source one, but couldnt really find what I needed, so I made my own. It has exactly the same dimensions as the old one, only this one is steel :) I shouldnt have to worry about it ever again.

Old one on top, new on the bottom.

Looks good. Have you tried it yet? My question is how did you get that little knurled push and turn piece (for lack of a better term) at the end through as it has the tiny locking pin at the end. Did you get that little pin out? Or machine a bigger hole for the pin to fit through?

Yes tried it and it works perfect. The pin in the turn and lock piece is a press fit roll pin. It is knureled in the middle to keep it in place. I just tapped it out with a punch, pushed it through the hole, and put the pin back in.

Thanks, but that looks more the like cable end for the throttle assembly. This one works and I never have to worry about it breaking. Plus, besides some time, it was free! :D
