I live in the country of Panama out in the Islands. The Only Evinrude Shop doesn't carry any of the Evinrude Service tools to use in my E-Tec 115. The two I am referring to are Carbon Guard P/N 775629 and Fuel Conditioner P/N 775613. I know I can get other brands...of injector cleaners, but haven't seen any kind of stuff for DeCarbing the engine.

Question: Does anyone know Chemicaly speaking if you can use other brands in an E-Tec?

Cheers,

Catfish

Re: Evinrude Service Tools - Subsitutions

Yamaha peddles Ring Free, a supposed carbon preventer. There are likely others as well ... I'm sure Mercury has a comparable product.

For fuel conditioner, there's a host of products, like StaBil, StarBrite has one too, and there are others.

Decarbing is different and uses totally different stuff (Engine Tuner) in BRP's lingo and Sea Foam available at most auto parts stores (in the US ,of course). There;'s also a Merc product here, but can remember it's name. I've used Sea Foam for years (smells and acts just like Engine Tuner). See here for procedure:
