Hey Fellas,

Is is possible to retro-fit a 1986 carb on a 1977 outboard? 35 horsepower Johnson. The 1977 carb is no longer available but the '86 is. If it is possible, are there any major stumbling blocks I need to consider? Thanks in advance for your help. -Jeff.

Re: Carb retro-fit

the main problem lies in the choke/primer area. the 77 carb has a choke, the 86 uses a primer, the 77 intake does not have the nozzle for the primer hose. i would watch ebay for a carb. the difference between a 77 25 and 35 hp carb is the high speed jet.

Thanks, T-Daddy,

What would I have to do to make the '77 25hp carb work on a '77 35hp?

Thanks!

I guess my question is a stupid one. Are the high speed orifice and the high speed jet the same thing? Thanks-Jeff.
