One evinrude is a 1966 and the Johnson is a Johnson Super Sea-Horse. All three engines are 40 HP. I have no clue what I am doing with engines. I would like to atleast get one engine running so that I can put it on my boat. Any help would be appreciated.

I guess you need to make a determination. Which motor has the best compression and is in better shape, are they electric shift or manual shift? Manual shift is the lesser of the two for trouble. Most of the parts should interchange between the 3 motors, go from there.

I would start with finding the model numbers. From those, we can better tell just what you have and which parts will be interchangable between them. You will find a data plate either on the port side of the transom bracket, or on the front of it.

The Erude with the square cowl looks more like a late fifties 35hp to me, but its hard to say without the model number. That may not matter, though, because its the same basic platform as the later motors and some parts will swap between them anyway.

Once we figure out what you have, then we can get into general mechanical condition, electric shift v. electric shift, gearbox condition, etc.

I think the Speeditwin is a 28hp early '60s. The Evinrude with the black and red triangle on the side is a 1960 40hp. Lark. The Johnson 40hp looks like an early '60s model.

I agree. I just looked at the photos again and the one taken of this motor from the back, clearly shows that it has the "thin" midsection. Since the 40hp motors of that vintage were all of the "superquiet" design, with the "fat" midsections, it could not be a 40hp motor. The hood shape identifies the motor as early 60s and the only motor in that size range, with the midsection seen in the photo, was the 28hp.

The Johnson model number is RDSL-22 The first evinrude model number is 282026 and I could only find a serial number for the 40 HP evinrude and the serial number is 01139.

The Johnson is a 1960 and the 28 HP Evinrude is a 1962.

I feel I should be able to get these engines working as I have a 3HP Evinrude that is a 1957 and Runs fine. I just do not know how to get them to that stage haha. I am mechanically inclined when it comes to any type of engine. All i had to do to get the three horse started was clean carbarator and put gas in it and it hadn't been started in 30 years.
