Hi guys, it is a cold rainy day here so i thought i would start thinking about my winter projects. First I have a couple that i don't know yr or HP for, one is an evinrude serial # 4404-27071 the other is a johnson TD-20 74539. They look sort of complete, i have a couple lower shrouds and recoils for the johnson. I may keep them just for display, or maybe restore in the future, Thanks to all of you, you have always been a great source of info , and i read the forums frequently.

The Evinrude is a 1947 Zephyr 5.5hp
The Johnson TD-20 was made 1947-49. The serial number you gave can't be correct--it is for 1928

Re: ID these outboards

the paint is flaking on the johnson, the 7 was spaced away from the rest a bit, would 4539 be more appropriate?

No, that's worse. 4539 would be a 1923.

1947---538,801 thru 614,514
1948---614,515 thru 698,874
1949---698,875 thru 787,023
