Lower unit?

Removed lower unit from 1964 28 hp. do not see o-Ring on top end of driveshaft. Is it possible stuck in side the engine?

How many seals and o-rings I need to replce with impeller?

Manual shows 1 o-Ring and 1 seal on top only. Thank you

The o-ring may be broken and stuck in the 'cup' that the top of the drive shaft fits to. You should be able to look w/a flashlight and pull it out w/a wire if it's in there. If not, it just fell out when shaft was removed, or someone didn't replace it, and you got it apart, so no biggie. It's there to prevent corrosion. Replace o-ring upon install, and put some grease or anti-seize on the splines.
