replaceing coil

hi i need to replace a coil on my johnson 60hp 3cylinder ( 1992 ) i have got a new one of ebay.It looks like the old one ie, size, wires, plug in, It is for a johnson/evinrude 60hp. I think the code numbers are not the same. Can someone tell me if its OK to use one.

The pn or the pn interchange is what counts. Many OMC/BRP pn have been superceded over time, sometimes a bunch of times. Check the pn and the supercede history.

pn = part number (BRP or OMC), typically a 7 digit number.

BRP calls for coil assy 0582508, which would be a current pn. You can check pn on BRP's website.

SORRY.got it as i was sending message.( that is the pn on the old coils ) will sort it out 2morr. Thanks
