interchanging evinrude parts

Would the power head from a 1986 120hp XL evinrude bolt straight onto a 1983 140hp L evinrude leg and would other parts interchange? Thanks

Back out from this message to the forum listing, read the top secret FAQ file for a list of leg swaps that will work on various yrs.

The powerheads will not interchange as the 1983 140hp is a crossflow and the 1986 120hp is a looper. The midsections and lower units are different.
