1983 johnson 15hp tilt/trim adjust

This is frustrating . . . I can't find how to adjust the trim.

Here is the normal position:

Here is the tilted position at like way too much trim (the boat's bow is way up).

How do I trim the motor down a notch? I can't figure it out!

there are 5 holes, but nothing is actually going in the holes; a lever just comes out and plants itself on the transom. Is this motor missing something? I can take more pictures if necessary.

yes, it is missing the tilt pin. this goes into the adjustable holes.

Thanks for the help; I knew something was wrong.

Where can I get this part? I checked iboats and I can't seem to find it. Do you suggest an online source?

tim's outboard will have it 218-682-2331. Well, they had one a month ago..haha. You could also make your own pin, but the originals are easy to remove/re-insert.

So, for $30, you get a pin that goes through these holes?

If that's all this is I'll go buy a drill bit extender for $5.

You can build your own, but be careful that you don't let it rust in place, then you have a problem. I would check salvage yards maybe an older style will fit, the last one I bought cost 5 bucks.

Excellent; I found one on ebay for $17 shipped, but I'm checking my local boat shop for one as well.
