I just picked up a 1987 20hp Johnson outboard (Model#CJ20CRCUR)
Just wondering if someone knows the correct fuel/oil mixture.
Thanks.

Great motor. I used to have one before upgrading to a 1988 30 hp. You may see a little 100:1 sticker above the fuel connector. Resist the urge to run it at that ratio. They retracted that recommendation a few years later.

Yes, but I ran my 1986 25 hp for 16 years on the 100:1, not knowing they had changed the recommendation to 50:1. I put 2000 trouble-free salt water hours on that motor, and the guy I sold it to is still getting excellent service from it.

Don't get me wrong, I recommend the 50:1. But it's fun to know the motor is robust enough to thrive on 100:1.

Yes, and my 1987 20 hp ran for 19 years on 100:1 before I got it and the mechanic that looked it over for its new owner gushed about how great it was.

The problem is due to lack of internal lubrication for long term storage (like over winter).
