1999 Johnson 175 hp with hard knock

This is a defect motor I might buy.

1. How many types of 175 HP was it in 1999?
2. Any known problem with this motor?
3. Can this motor be re sleeved?
4. How many years was this motor i production?

Don't have the serial number yet. But supposed to be 1999 model

Any tips are welcome, might be looking at this motor tomorrow.
Not sure if it can be started.
This is a motor only used a few day each summer.

Yes, have seen this, but that is an older engine...

The engine was sold today, so the project is canceled
