Seen this type of question a lot but am a little new to the older motors. Wondering what the ideal fuel ratio would be. Have the tank with lines and connectors on the way so i want to get it out asap. Thanks in advance

Re: '59 Johnson sea horse 10hp fuel mixture

From evinrude.com:
Q - What is the fuel/oil mix for my motor?

A - The following is generally true: 1958 and prior used 20:1, 1959 thru 1963 used 24:1, 1964 and newer use 50:1. High performance usage (racing) requires a ratio of 25:1. New engine break-in (not DI) requires 25:1.

I also have a 59 Johnson Seahorse 10 that I am trying to get running. The entire project is a learning experience because I have no prior experience with any type of motor. If you think of anything that can be useful, drop a note on my posting under "59 Johnson QD20 project". Thanks for the question on the fuel mix. I had not thought of that and will adjust mixture.

I use anywhere from between 24:1 and 33:1 in my 50's engines.... I also use fully synthetic tcw3 oil...
