dwell on 1989 Johnson 200

anyone know how to set the dwell on a 89 johnson 200. I have a dwell meter and have figured out where to put all the leads except one, and it is refered to as the "-" terminal of the firing coil. (no idea where that is). There is a handle for adjusting dwell (seems obvious enough) but cant seem to figure out where to hook up the meter.

There is no dwell setting on a 1989 johnson 200. No points.

so what is the big handle marked "Spark dwell Adjust" for?

I guess more importantly, do I need to adjust that before timing?

BTW, the handle is spring loaded and attached to the timer base.

For those interested, that knob is one of two ways to adjust idle timing. Use the other way, that plastic POS is bound to break at some point. Service manual is invaluable!
