48 hp evinrude blows starter fuse often????

my mid eighties 48 hp evinrude blows the starter fuse on occasion.
not sure were to start??? any ideas!!!

when does it blow? on startup or after running?

Check connexions to solenoid and cables, then replace fuse by a little stronger one.

"little stronger one" WRONG!!!!!!!!!! you will be replacing a wiring harness.

is there anything else connected to your starting circuit? radio, lights? check for frayed wires that may be shorting.

only the motor function should be connected to the starting circuit.

This often will happen when you push the starter key in while starting.
I know this sounds stupid, but when you push the key in,you use amperage to operate the fuel enrichener.Then when you turn the key at the same time to start,you WILL blow the fuse.

Possibly key switch....at least that's what it was in my case....like $20 and easy swap.
