I don't happen to have one of those motors but you can look at the parts diagram at shop.evinrude.com. Take a look and let us know how you make out.

Have you got the solenoid in the bracket? Then the plunger in the solenoid with the spring under the plunger? Then there's a long, thin link up to the choke plate on the top carb.

Re: 1977 115 evinrude choke

i have the plunger, with the spring under it, i also have a thin bar comming from the lower carb that attaches to the plunger. i am not understanding where the actual solenoid mounts. it has a bracket around it, unfortuantly, on the side of the manifold, is the oly place i can see it sitting, but in interfears with the linkage in both holes. am i missing a bracket? i bought the entire unit (carbs, cover/manifold, and choke off e-bay) there was a piece of broken bakolite on the manifold/cover in one of the three holes on the side the choke is mounted.

It mounts to the rear of the air silencer base plate. Long skinny spring link goes up to the top carb choke. An adjustable link goes between the two choke arms.

'76 and '78 should be similar. Try those on the website.

Re: 1977 115 evinrude choke

I know they changed the mounting and location in 78.

76 should be the same.

I parted out a 77 and a 78 115, ill see if i still have the pics.

I might even still have extra parts if you need anything.

let me know....

Re: 1977 115 evinrude choke

Can I see pics of what you bought, and your engine?

that may strike my memory of how it goes together

Ok, you should have 2 rods for the carbs right? (linkage I guess you could call them)

One is just one rod, bent at each end to connect to the carbs.

the other one should be 2 rods, connected together using a small metal bracket with a little 'nipple' coming off. That rod controls the 'butterflys' or choke plates

then the choke plunger should have a little rod/spring coming off of it correct?

The air cover/silencer I believe has provisions to hold the choke solenoid. But I dont think it actually mounts there. I believe there should be a strap around the solenoid itself, with 2 screw holes, that attaches to the intake manifold itself, not the silencer

Brandon is not exactly out in the boondocks. There are Evinrude dealers reasonably close to you. Give them a visit, they can get you whatever parts you need.

Re: 1977 115 evinrude choke

I just thought there would be place besides Shop.Evinrude.com to buy it online.

Anyways I just ordered it through a local Evinrude dealer for $7 and will receive it tomorrow.
