Evinrude Sportster 25hp. YEAR????

The only numbers I have found are fd-12 1720394 on the transome clamp and 25402m e0008367 under the hood Does any one know what year motor I have? Is this a reliable model of evinrude I really know nothing about it. Thanks

Well, your transom clamp is a 1958 Johnson 18 hp and the number under the hood is a 1974 Evinrude 25 hp. Would that be a number on the powerhead?

Both are reliable motors. I'll assume you have a 1974 Evinrude 25 hp with a single line fuel tank.

FD 12 18HP 1958 Johnson. you probably have a motor that has had a different hood put on it. not uncommon for johnson//evenrude covers to be swapped. it is a great running motor when tuned up correctly. almost bullet proof. most parts are readily available.

Does that mean someone replaced the transom clamp the tag on it reads (when ordering parts use these #s fd-12 1720394 ). If this is a replaced clamp what numbers do I use to order parts for the motor I have?

If its on the engine its a 1974 Evinrude. 25402m is your model number. Use it when ordering parts. I assume the the engine and everything is blue and the transom bracket is red or repainted?

transom clamp is the same color blue as the motor. Thanks alot for yur help.

I looked at the clamp and if it was repainted I do not know how they did it because the serial # tag has not been removed and the blue paint continues under the tag?

I can't explain it either. I can tell you that the FD-12 was red (Holiday Bronze). Don't worry about it.
