I bought an old bass boat with an 115 hp Johnson (115EL77S). I've been slowly replacing/repairing stuff on both the boat and motor.

I've gone from the engine not running at all to running poorly to running OK but not getting to proper rpm at WOT.

My current problem is that the brass fitting that is pressed into the float chamber assembly on the bottom of the upper carb keeps popping out. I'm getting ready to pull and rebuild the carbs and have a few questions.

What is the proper technique to press that fitting into place?
Do I need 2 rebuild kits (one for the upper and lower carb)?

Thanks,

I assume you mean the fuel inlet brass fittings?

I remove them and tap the hole and replace with a threaded fitting.

Yes, you need two kits.

Yes I mean the fuel inlet brass fitting. Do I need to get one specific to boats or will one from an auto parts supplier be sufficient (any other suggestions)?

Other than same inside diameter is there anything else I should be conscience of in the new fitting?

Thanks for the help,
