I have a evienrude 150hp xp I just bought. I am trying to find as much info on this as possible. I bought it from a guy in PA. He said is was a 1995 but I am not sure as it seems to not have a factory serial number on it . But I am not sure. How can I find out more info on this motor?

Re: evinrude xp 150 hp identification?

The XP (or GT for Johnson's) was a marketing badge typically affixed to their crossflow engines. Their last year was 1991. The model number for an XP would have started with 150SXXXX. It is the "S" which identified this model. The XP models had different heads, large carbs, stiff engine mounts and the louvered hoods. They put out around 165 hp. Later 150's were the 60 degree loopers. If you can post the model from the casting plug, it will idenfiy what engine you have.
