:confused::confused:

Am retired and a novice boater (1995 24' Suncruiser Trinidad toon). Noticed a badly cracked 1 1/2 " fuel neck hose, and wanted to replace it. VERY difficult to get old hose off. The new 1/1/2 gas neck hose connected fine.

However, there is a smaller orifice on the plastic neck tube/gas cap part, which connects a smaller hose thru the smaller orifice to another port into the gas tank. That broke in half when I removed the smaller diameter hose. Assume this orifice and hose is some kind of vapor control mechanism. As a temporary repair, I wrapped the two broken orifice ends with lots of electrian tape, until I can find someplace to acquire a new gas tube/gas cap part (haven't located one yet).

Is the tape repair safe? What danger might I incur? Thanks for any suggestion from all you veteran mariners!
