Hi. I have a 1974 115hp Johnson (model 115ETL74B) with a slight misfire at idle. I originally had weak/no spark - the stator tested bad w/resistance check and looked bad visually (leaking). I replaced stator and rectifier. Now she runs, but with a slight misfire. Everything else checks out spec wise with my multimeter.

Can the ignition coils and/or spark plug wires cause a misfire? The coils checked out good spec wise using my meter. Visually, some of the coils have cracked insulation and the wires have some corrosion/rust in the boot that connects to the plugs. I ordered new coils/wires but am wondering if I should replace my powerpack too?

Prior to replacing my stator and rectifier the motor was very hard to start, but once she ran, she ran great for that day. She had no misfire at that time, so I would think my carbs are fine. Otherwise I would suspect them.

Any thoughts/opinions/suggestions?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
