I just bought a boat from my brother-in-law and he took his 1992 Johnson with him and replaced it with a 1987 40HP Tiller motor. The boat is a 15 foot aluminum and he left the console in it. I would like to convert the 40HP Johnson tiller so I can use the console and power and steer the boat from there. Does anyone know what I would need and how to do this? I have been trying to look online, but I don't know the names of the parts that I would need so it's kind of hard. Has anyone done this? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Go to http://shop.evinrude.com/
Click on Electronic Parts Catalog
Select OB Accessories from the drop down list where it says Evinrude
You will find the remote control adapter kit

The steering cable hookup is conventional through the tilt tube and drag link back to the steering arm.
