Re: 1958 evinrude 7.5 fuel mixture?

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to use unleaded gas in a 1954 7.5hp evinrude. Some tell me it's fine, while others say I must put a lead additive in the fuel.

Thanks, Russ

Unleaded gas is just fine. Don't think about it for another minute.

Re: 1958 evinrude 7.5 fuel mixture?

My Evinrude Fleetwin 7.5 hp manual (1954) says to mix 1/2 pint oil to 1 gal of good grade, regular gasoline.

Does anyone know where I can get touch up paint to match this light blue shade on my motor (and the white also). I have a couple of little marks where it could use some touch up, for for the most part, this motor which is 54 years old looks almost new. Anyone know what it might be worth as an antique??

It's not really an antique. In fact, there are thousands and thousands of those outboards still powering small boats everywhere. Prices range from between about $200 to about $500, with the latter reserved for absolutely pristine ones, complete with a really nice tank.

Up here in Minnesota, they're a sought after outboard by fishermen and duck hunters alike, and they get used.

Generally, Johnson and Evinrude outboards made since 1950 aren't really collector's items. They get boat and sold to be used. Parts are readily available, and they're easy to work on.

Russ,

Try Peter at www.nymarine.ca for your paint

I am rebuilding a '56 Johnson FD-10 15HP and he had all the paint and decals for me to totally restore the motor to original condition.
