Is there anyway to test the distributor and rotor to find out if they are too worn? I have good spark up to the wire going into the distributor, but nothing going out to the plugs. I have cleaned all the brass areas and checked for cracks etc. but is there any other test that I can do to see if it is making contact. May be orginal, and the brass on the rotor seems quite worn. Any ideas?

I had the same problem on a '58 50HP V4. The engine had overheated a bit and cracked the plastic part of the rotor. A bit of carbon then grounded the spark. The cure was to replace the rotor ($7 in those days).

Thanks for your reply. I will do my best to check this part, but so far I can't seem to find any cracks or carbon where the spark is jumping anywhere. $7.00? I remember buying gas for $0.28 a gallon too
