I all in new to the site and had a question I hope you can answer for me.
I just picked up a 1953-54 Evinrude 25 hp big twin and a 1953-54 Evinrude 15 hp fastwin. What gas oil ratio did these early models use. I heard in the sixties 50:1 was common. I would just like to use the correct ratio. Dutch

Nice motors. I have both. Post your model and s/n numbers and we can tell you what years you have.

24:1 in both. Synthetic oil will smokeless and won't leave a big oil sheen on the water. 1.5 turns out on the low and 1 turn out on the high is a good starting point for the jets. You have to make the final adjustments on the boat. Someone will come by with Joe Reeves carb set up procedure.

Re: 1950's evinrude gas/oil ratio

15012 - 02891 = 1953 Evinrude Super Fastwin 15 hp
25012 - 32748 = 1953 Evinrude Big Twin 25 hp

15GG-9015A = 1951 Montgomery Ward Sea King 5 hp

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send you the parts manuals for your Evinrudes.
