78 Johnson 15 Paint and Decals

Could anyone recommend a place to buy Decals and paint for a 1978 Johnson 15 hirsepower outboard? Any recommendations would be appreciated.

nymarine doesn't sell decals for motors that new. I think you will either have to get a photo of your old decals and have a graphics shop make them (usually around $40+) or make your own.

One trick is to download a good picture of the decal and resize it and then print out a color copy to the approx size you need. Then just glue it on to the boat/engine and seal it with some clear coat. It will look like an original that came on it and cost just pennies. I found some safety signs on the net and did this and made several safety signs for my shop .

Decals are available on E-Bay, search for "Johnson decals".
Listed will be a set of generic decals for the 9.9/15 Johnson.
From there you can link to an E-Bay store called Nana's Decals.
There you will see the exact decal you are looking for.
Not original production but very nicely done.
For paint it's still available from OMC but expensive for a rattle can.
Krylon's Ivory Gloss #1504 is supposed to be very close to the original
and a lot cheaper.
The is a website dedicated to these early Johnson outboards, lots
of information.

There was a place online I found that specialized in Johnson/Evinrude decals called "Cut up Vinyl"......but I am not sure he is still around. He had tons of decals on his site. He had a library of different years and horespowers...

I got mine for $15 shipped. Here is the end result.....

LoL......No gun involved.
I just let friends know I was looking for a motor.
Pre-Garage sale deal. The upper cowl had been lost blew off going down the road. E-Bay $16.50. Plan on a complete restoration, neat little motor.
Lot's of dirt dobber nest and crap to clean, but worked out well.
