Replacing 225hp VRO fuel pump with Yamaha pump

Can a Yamaha pump be used in place of the standard Evenrude VRO pump, I have the facilities to manufacture all the brackets and vacum adaptror plates. If the pump has the correct flow requirements I cannot imagine what could go wrong , I premix my fuel at 50:1 and pump that directly through the existing pump .Yamaha pumps are half the price here in South Africa and are easier to get hold of
