replace manual fuel pump with electric 87 2.7l seadrive

I recently had my powerhead rebuilt and installed by my mechanic. He thought the fuel pumps where not functioning properly so he instaled an automotive 12v electric pump. Is this safe?

Nope. And he's liable.

fire hazard, if motor stalls the pump will keep pumping, until the key is turned off. on an inboard there is a oil pump stitch, which shuts the pump off if no oil pressure, since an outboard is 2 cycle the is no oil pressure.
