I found a starter and bracket off of a 1964 fastwin 18 hp Ervinrude. The part # 's are starter MDO-4102M, bracket is 317328. Is there anywhere I can go to see if these numbered parts will work on my 1969 18 HP Evinrude [ fastwin ] . My locale Evinrude dealer can get me a starter assembly kit BUT it cost 450.00 installed or 400.00 and do it your self
I think I'll continue to shop around for parts
Thanks for any help

I am reasonably sure it should work. That's without spending half an hour researching part numbers. There wans't much change in the motors through those years.

F R - I thought that it [1964 starter & bracket ] would work on mine[69] but had heard one old boat mechanic say that from 66-71 the bracket was different. He wasn't sure how it was different but remembered having somekind of a problem matching one up [bracket] . Ken

ken look at ebay items 170137268781 and 270150575094. ask the sellers if there are any number stamped on the bracket. sometimes the part # is on it.

OK, Ken, I did it. I looked it up. 1963 and 1970 both use the same bracket, 308482. So it's reasonable to assume that '64 and '69 do too.
