I'm trying to get all my fuel mixtures right for all my motors. I have a 1974 johnson 25hp. Until this point in time i have ran 50:1. Is this recommended for this motor.

Yes, all OMC motors since 1964 use 50:1 Well ok so not the ones with oil injection for obvious reasons.

Wallyworld sells a plastic mixing jar for $3 to $5 that has all the mixture ratios marked on the side...fill to here for 50:1, fill to here for 24:1, using X amount of gas. Got one after I got tired of doing the math in my head.

Hi
I have a 1986 Australian assembled 15hp Johnston..on the engine housing beside where the fuel line connects it says 100;1 I have been using 50:1 because thats what I thought was standard ..any clues as to why the 100:1 is stencilled onto the cover?? and should I be using 100:1??don't want to be seizing him up

100:1 was a bad idea. OMC later reinstated 50:1. Remove the sticker.

You are correct in using 50:1. They started out at 100:1 in 1986, then discovered that some motors got some internal rusting going on after long periods of storage. They did a recall to remove the stickers and put a 50:1 one on.
