Is my 1971 Evinrude 55 or 60 HP?

Back in June I purchased a boat complete with a older Evinrude on it. According to the seller (runs a marine repair shop) the motor is a 55 hp but now that I want to purchase the manual and do some work with it I get 60 HP when I match the model number to several guides on the internet. The case has a 55 on it but the model numbers don't match. Which is it?

Should probably add the model number from the motor.

brp evinrude site shows that number as a 1971 60 hp.

So which is right? The plate on the motor or the model number. Will there be a big difference in the parts I will need to rebuilt the carbs, replace the fuel pump and replace the fuel lines? I will take some pictures of the motor this weekend as it is up at my cabin right now, if that will help in identifying it for sure.

unless somebobys been fooling around with the motor back who knows when the model number is right . go to the evinrude site and go uner engine diagrams follow instructions and take a close look.whats the evinrude dealer say? there is no 55 shown for 71.

1969 last year for 55 triple. maybe cowling or even powerhead has been changed?go to site though they have detailed diagrams of the motors and parts. do a search for brp evinrude and go for there.

Thanks... will do just that. To be honest I'm not sure that it is a '71. I was told that it was early 70s. I'm new to the world of outboards but fairly mechanically inclined. I just guested '71 from the model number.
