1995 Evinrude Rectifier & Regulator not enough wires

I lost the Rectifier/Regulator on my 1995 Evinrude outboard 225STLEO When I order the new part #584641 the number had changed to #586271 the replacement part was missing the purple wire all the other wire were the same Grey, red and two yellow with matching connector. What do I do with the purple wie or is it needed. I traced it to the VRO and the main engine connector. Help!<br /><br />Johntree

You don't need it. It was redundant.

Thanks ezeke<br />I will have it on the water this week end hope it runs I was concerened I had the wrong part. I will tape off the old purple wire and hope for the best.

Thanks again ezeke. The motor ran fine with out the purple wire.
