Re: Firing Order

Welcome Kirkman!

I'm taking for granted that this is a three cylinder? The model number you posted doesn't show up in the model guide anywhere. Would it be 70973? This would be a 1979. If the plate on the transom bracket is messed up, look on the block for a large welch plug. The model and serial number will be there also.

Back to the "timing". If the coils are stacked next to the cylinders, just run the spark plug leads to the corresponding cylinder. Top coil > top cylinder, middle coil > middle cylinder, bottom coil > bottom cylinder.

Re: Firing Order

Actually it has a cap with 3 spark wires coming out. Would anyone know where each wire comes to each plug? Thanks again

Re: Firing Order

We must have our lines crossed somewhere on the year model.A 79' 70 hp engine doesn't have a cap or rotor to check, but a powerpack, timer base, and three individual coils.
