What is the downside to not flushing my motor after every use in salt water? I have been in the caribean and seen the locals running theirs without worry. I try to do it occasionally but I often make just short trips and get home late from fishing.

Re: Johnson 70 hp in salt water

yeabs, I saw a recommendation from Evinrude/Johnson not to flush their late fiftiesn andearly sixties outboards.

I thought this was a strange recommendation, however, I know from experience that all exposed metal on my '58 fat-fifty was made of brass/ss/aluminum, and was very resistant to salt water.
