70 HP Johnson 1974 Tilt Trim ?

Hey yall,<br /><br />Is my origional 1974 Johnson Tilt Type Trim system meant to be used ONLY for tilting the motor or was it also meant to trim out the motor under a power load?<br /><br />Ive noticed a few old posts that mention them only being used for tilting up and down under no power load. Also, the unit seems to SLOWLY move its way from the up position to the down position in about 45 mins. Is this normal?!?!? Am i out of fluid?<br /><br />Please help, new to this older type tilt/trim setup.<br /><br />Respectfully,<br /><br />Jeff
