I am in the market for a new boat and came across one with a Johnson/Suzuki 225HP. I don't know anything about this motor and a quick search revealed that I guess Suzuki made some for strokes for Johnson around that time.

They do great in the freshwater up here. Can't say I recall a 225 but I don't see many big 4 strokes in our area. Some of the smaller inline motors seem to have had a problem with the oil passage being too close to a water passage resulting in corrosion and water in the oil but I believe thats mainly salty dogs (have not seen it personally). I take care of many in the 40-150hp range and any issues seem to be simple. A fuel pump here, a TPS there, but all told pretty bullet proof with good maintenance in my humble experience. I own several personally. Cheaper to buy the parts from Suzuki than to order from BRP.

Unless your very mechanically inclined or have a Suzuki dealer close you might rethink this. Salt or brackish water motor would lean away from....
