Haven’t ran my motor in about 10 months, started motor at launch and heard this ticking noise. It sounds like it’s coming from top front part of motor around the carbs. The vro is disconnected and primer solenoid is functioning. It doesn’t sound like the clicking increases with rpm or I just can’t hear it and motor appears to be running well other than the click noise. Any ideas on where to to start? Thanks for any assistance. 1991 evinrude v4 90hp jet.

Do a cylinder drop test on it to see if the click noise changes.

Is it the VRO pump cycling ??----Put a stick or screwdriver to it and listen to it.

Bad reed perhaps?
Try turning the motor while its off by hand, see if it makes a click then or only at operating rpms

Have you had the flywheel off to see if there's something loose under there ??
