My boat came with a 70hp E70ELCNB
Now that i got the stringers and deck done
I need help getting the motor ready for next season
First off...The recipt for the motor says its an 83'
But when I check the model numbers it says its a 82'?
Also my motor has no tnt and there is no reverse lock
Is it supposed to have one?

E70ELCNB

E == Evinrude
70 = Horsepower
L == Long Shaft (20")
C == 8
N == 2
B == Factory run number, of no consequence

No Tilt/Trim on this model. Any engine with a Tilt/Trim unit would have a "T" in the model number. Seeing as how a PTT unit could not be installed easily on this model, it stands to reason that there would be no purpose to removing the manual Tilt/Lock mechanical apparatus... strange! Is the reverse lock rod in the holes in the transom brackets?

Many of the 82 models came with trim and tilt.------It was easy to retrofit the trim and tilt on them.------Pictures of your set-up today would help.------When installing a trim on those , the tilt aide / shock absorber was removed and the reverse lock was removed.----So is there a sngle cylinder installed on your motor now ?----It would be between the transom brackets.

Something is definatly missing there
Sorry about the poor picture quality
The motor is black and its dark outside
I did my best using a light

Methinks at one time it had a PTT kit installed, but it was removed and the original shock absorber parts reinstalled. But they didn't reinstall everything. The trail lock spring in the picture is supposed to be used with PTT. (According to the parts book)

might help to get a look at a sister motor, or maybe some pics in the service manual (operator's manual might do it for the reverse lock).

You would have to be pretty darn talented and have a shop full of tooling to make it. That thing holds it down in forward as well as reverse and withstands a heck of a lot of stress right before releasing if you hit an underwater obstruction.

The main parts on the iboats diagram that I posted above are 79, 81, 85, 89, and a bunch of bits and pieces that go with them.

Your location ?----Look for a used trim / tilt unit.-----You would be a lot happier with that.-----I have a bunch of that reverse lock stuff laying around, yes I do.-----Shipping cost may be a deterrant.

Shopping around for parts there are so many options
Amazon,ebay,iboats and sierra are the parts the same or is there a diffrence?
For s couple dollars I dont want to have to do the job twice

No sealant anywhere on any gasket pertaining to a fuel system.... if anything, just oil!
