Did you use snap ringf pliers to remove the retainer ring per chinewalkers post #11

Not sure myself but what racerone in post #20 said don't you remove the bearing carrier first then next would be the snap ring?? Not sure myself?

This procedure can take some patience with the puller. What worked for me last time was to tension the puller and then lightly tap around the bearing carrier on the outside of the lower unit casting. Let it sit for a bit, tighten puller slightly more, tap, and repeat. The carrier may finally move. If this doesn't do it, you may need to apply some heat to the casting as evenly as possible to expand it, then tighten the puller. Also you should be using penetrating oil like Kroil around the bearing carrier. Patience is a virtue with this procedure!

I'll have to try that because I had tighten my puller like to the max and it was not moving? Their was already oil from the lower unit living it but I didn't try heating it or knocking on the outside of it.
