1959 johnson v4 50hp parts wanted

My outboard was original a tiller control that got changed to helm control and they butchered the control shaft assembly and lever at the bottom of the shaft to change it.<br />Does anyone know of a conversion kit to fix it properly for helm control or has the control shaft and lever so I can fix it so it is more secure

I don't recall ever seeing one of these engines with a tiller control. One of the salvage yards should have the parts you need.

You may be right, this is my first boat and I have alot to learn. I have not found many salvage yards online that have responed to me online as to having the parts. Do you reccomend any

Try tcoutboard.com. They probably have a couple dozen Fat Fifties in their yard. Go to their site, then email them. They'll get back to you right away.<br /><br />You could also watch eBay. I see parts there all the time from people who are stripping motors.

Trixie's Landing in Bayville used to have all those parts. Of course, that was before Hurricane Sandy.
