FD11 vs FD12 Gearcase Seal kit

I have a 1957 johnson 18 (fd11) and the seal kits that I keep finding are for the 1958-on lower units. I think the main difference is where the water intake is located. Does anyone know what kit (if there is one) that I would need for the 1957. Or, if I used the one for the later models, which parts would be incompatible?

The prop shaft seal was changed mid-year 1957. Model FD-11 uses a 302495 seal. FD-11K uses a 302545 seal. So if you have an FD-11K, the 1958 seal kit will work for you. But if a FD-11 you will have to obtain a prop shaft seal from an Evinrude dealer,
