1978 Power trim won't go up on Johnson 115hp v-4

Power trim won't go up on a 1978 Johnson 115HP V-4 Jul

Any suggestions- My power trim will only go down. I have a single solenoid mounted in a box mounted on my transom. I have 3 wires going from the box to the pump motor, 1 blue 1 green 1 black. If I jump the blue wire(up wire) directly off the battery the engine will trim up. Someone told me that I should buy a grounded solenoid, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The factory solenoid is not expensive.------Tried putting 12 volts directly to the solenoid ?----Perhaps a faulty trim switch ?

Yes I have, still didn't work. The solenoid is wired directly off the battery. I even tried by passing the trim switch and it still wouldn't trim up. I ordered a factory solenoid yesterday, hopefully it will correct problem.

Ordered an original equipment Johnson solenoid and problem was solved
