I changed the coils and points and condensors and HT leads on my 18hp E,I had trouble with the motor not reaching WOT,the throttle lever control wasn't travelling to it's full extent.The boat wasn't quite getting on the plane.I changed the prop to a 9"X9" which helped a little.
I pushed the throttle lever hard and it reached WOT,and the boat planed.
I lifted the cover and had a check around the throttle camplate,I had run one of the HT leads over the aluminium peg instead of under it.This was causing a restriction on the camplate travel.I re-ran the lead,and the problem was solved.
The prop I took off was 11.5"Dia,so I might put it back on and see what the difference is.I've not really used the boat and engine since I bought them,so It's been a learning curve.
