Hey Folks I have used this site for the wealth of information available to everyone, and thank you for being here, it might be my old age or or just pure blindness on my part,, but i can not seem to find the sticky in the secret file for the installation of the telltale.

I need the proper location to drill and tap for the brass fitting for the telltale on the exhaust water housing on this 1977 johnson 70 hp, over the last couple years it seems water has pushed out one of the gaskets between one of the plates, so i figured while i had it off to replace the gasket i would install the telltale port for the line, It would so much simpler for my Friend that owns the boat , as he is not real mechanically inclined.
any and all help is appreciated,,Thank You

You don't want to drill one using the exhaust housing. I put mine on my 1977 70 hp Evinrude drilling the hole on top of the motor.

Hi, hoping this still gets to you but how thick is the top of the block that we need to drill through? I'd rather not go too far when I do this job.
Cheers.
