Any advice is appreciated...I just recently bought a 17'6 Javelin with a 1995 Johnson Fast Strike 150 V6 2stroke...Been told that bypassing the oil injection would be a good idea since there is no oil pump alarms on these old motors. I've done a little research and read that these oil pump systems are pretty bullet proof. Should I go through the trouble for peace of mind knowing my engine won't blow while im hooked up at 65mph, or trust in the oil pump?

I want the guy eating the popcorn emoji here.

In all seriousness, you will get just as many on both sides. Each equally certain they are right.

A 95 has the alarms.

31 years using VRO2 and finally 'OMS' on same motor.

the first time I replaced, probably didn't have to, was a novice.
second time I replaced it, the gas pump diaphragm was ruptured and leaking....

knowing what I know now I would have replaced just the diaphragm and o-rings.

this last OMS has been on my engine for over a decade.

if you read the article, you'll see that if they DO fail you just don't go anywhere...if the engine isn't running, it isn't running lean.

periodically you should test the Low Oil (tank) and No Oil (the electronic side of the VRO) circuits
