So, I was having problems earlier that prevented the engine from exceeding 2500 rpms. After changing a coil, power pack, and checking all the normal things, (sensors, et.) It was running around 5500 rpms, but was idling too fast. So I loosened the +- screw holding the tabs down on the flywheel cover and lowered the - down to help slow down the idle. Put the boat on the trailer and forgot about it for a month or so. Now, took out, will not go over 3500 rpms, sounds like a short or something? Did I change the timing by lowering that tab setting?

Also, The rubber assembly that connects the power head to the cowl to let the "tell tale" stream of water out the back, has ripped, allowing water to spray the back of the power head, while under way. I've ordered, and received the new one, but have yet to install. Could this water be shorting the spark plug leads? Doesn't really seem possible, but I thought I'd throw that out there.....
