NO SPARK 1989 EVINRUDE 140HP

I have a 1989 Evinrude 140hp...I have no spark at the present...At the present I don't have the motor connected to a set of control I just picked up the motor the other day...I guess my question is, does anyone know if there is a kill switch on the motor that i would have to short out to see if I would receive spark... Also I was told that if i disconnect the black and yellow wire at the power pack and I receive spark my issue is in the ignition...is that true....if I receive spark after disconnecting the black and yellow wire that would mean it would have a kill switch on the motor I'm I correct in saying that...

You don't have a kill switch on the motor.

So will unplugging the black and yellow wire and turning the motor over and I get spark will that show an ignition issue, or how would I check the power pack

It would show you have a wiring issue on the motor.
