I'm 3 for 4. Guess I better go the the casino.....lol

I've owned 4 boats. All but the first (Citation) came with a comprehensive owners manual.
The Striper, Parker and Grady all have good manuals.

Heck, the Grady came with a three ring binder with the OEM paper work for the installed options

What were the cost of those boats when new.. a little different than most discussed on this site I'd expect.

That's exactly what I was talking about, it's 99% generic info about boats and systems, not details about what you actually purchased, you could change the name and it would apply to just about any boat built. It's not bad, but you aren't getting details about the exact boat.

The production manager was a very good friend of mine, I fished from his 26' Striper many times, he moved on to building Yachts in China for Sea Ray, then retired in Texas.

It depends on the manufacturer.

My owners manuals contains model specific wiring and plumbing diagrams along with hose and wireway location and routings. Not to mention fuse locations and values, some troubleshooting procedures for installed options etc.

The manual showed "typical plumbing" and the normal marine color coding for wires, not specific info on the exact boat. the trouble shooting was what's taken out of the accessory's (Radio, GPS,etc.) manual, not something related to the particular boat. While I didn't read every word of the manual, I didn't see anything that was specific to a style or model of boat.

You linked the one for the Striper, that's what I was commenting on.

The Grady one is much better than most, but Grady tries to set themselves apart from other companies, so using them as an example of what's typically done in the industry is a stretch.

There is a Stripers Owners Club website. I think it is "SOC". There are some guys who can provide info on that hull who post on that website.

Yes, I asked for recommendations - not just look it up on Google. AND, your link is for Evinrude, I asked about a Johnson. IF you have nothing to add, you don't HAVE to post.

whoa..... if you knew MORE than you do, youd have known his advice was sound... and helpful.....IN NO WAY WAS HIS REPLY MALICIOUS!!...........good luck

Went on a test spin, and bought the boat. The motor smoked a bit on startup, but stopped smoking quickly - it revved well, idled down to a tickover, I am a happy camper.

THANK YOU.
I found SeaStriper.Com.
I joined and found a user manual for '98 boats - has wiring diagram, dash layout, Bilge, fuel pump, aerator for livewell, lots of good stuff.

no bueno....junk manual..... the details and the correct pictures are in the FACTORY manual made for ONE YEAR for only a certain series of motors....even if the next year was identical the factory put out a new manual for THAT year.... you could buy the correct manual for $35 if you look hard enough.... the last one I bought actually looked like a knockoff copy as the cover was just WHITE, no pictures or colors..... the factory manuals always have bright covers with nice photo or design....but the inside was all factory content!
