I am having to replace the trim/tilt unit on my engine. I was originally going to replace the seals because of fluid leaking by the trim cylinders. After spending an entire day removing the lower pin, I am not able to get the trim rods removed. I was able to remove the tilt rod with ease but the trim rods not so much. Even tried heating them. Found pitting on the trim rods.
What options do I have for replacement? Is there aftermarket or do I need to stick with OEM? Will a unit from a higher HP engine work with my engine? I went to a marine repair and he had a unit from, what he thought, was a Yamaha that looks just like mine. I believe it was a Showa brand. I am just wondering what's out there. Kind of dead in the water for now!
