I will post my results as soon as I get off the water. Probably later this evening. I am concerned that I might be replacing a voltage regulator too since I too have been getting some sporadic tach readings. But it could've been caused by the power surging coming off the failing power pack. The regulator that is on it now is definitely newer than the motor since it is CDI branded, but I'm not sure when the previous owner replaced it.
